Park Güell
What began as a gated housing estate is now a UNESCO World Heritage park, and only part of it needs a ticket.
The monumental zone
The serpentine bench, the mosaic salamander and the hypostyle hall all sit inside the paid, time-slotted area; book the slot before you leave home.
The free paths
The outer network of viaducts, pine woods and lookout terraces is open without a ticket and holds some of the best views in the park.
Getting there
The climb from Lesseps or Vallcarca is steep and mostly stairs; the bus or the shuttle from the metro saves the knees for later.
